Welcome to Lanterns Nursery School

Lanterns Nursery School is a Hampshire Maintained Nursery School that offers high quality nursery provision for children aged 2-5 years. We are an inclusive setting with identified places for children with additional needs from the age of 2 years 9 months. Our charity Friends of Lanterns offers ‘Extended services’ to our local community. We share professional expertise through partnership work with Hampshire County Council, offering outreach services and Early Years Continuing Professional Development as part of a HISP Multi Academy Trust teaching school hub.

Lanterns Nursery School offers

• 66  3 and 4 year old places, including 36 fifteen hour SEN Hub places of which 12 places are in specialist class for children with social communication difficulties. There are 18 Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) resourced places in our inclusive classes.
• 16 2 year old places at any one time, with at least 4 of these places for vulnerable twos.

Lanterns Nursery School is known for its expertise in early education and specialism in working with children and families of children with SEND.

Headteacher Welcome

I am very lucky to be the Headteacher of this wonderful maintained nursery school. Parents and families always comment on the friendly, happy atmosphere and the enjoyment shown by the children attending. Our nursery school has been judged to be ‘Outstanding’ by Ofsted, and we are very proud of the learning experiences we offer and the success of the children that attend. We are committed to providing a safe and secure environment and an exciting early year’s curriculum that is engaging and irresistible to all our young children.
